The Telangana State Election Commission on Tuesday unveiled the full timetable for upcoming municipal and municipal corporation elections, setting the stage for a major democratic exercise in the state’s urban regions. Polling will be conducted on February 11, covering 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations, with vote counting scheduled for February 13.

State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini said the elections will play a key role in strengthening local self-governance, as more than 52.43 lakh registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots. Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm on polling day. In case of any disruption, re-polling, if required, will be held on February 12.

The notification also opens the nomination window for candidates, which will run from January 28 to January 31. With the official announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect across Telangana, restricting government announcements and new policy decisions until the election process concludes.

Election authorities clarified that while the polls will span most urban local bodies in the state, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will not be included in this round of elections. The focus will instead remain on other municipal corporations and municipalities, many of which are expected to witness intense multi-cornered contests.
