Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday condemned the recent Nagpur violence, stating that the incident appeared to be pre-planned and fueled by misinformation. Addressing the Assembly, Fadnavis asserted that the government would take strict action against those involved in the unrest.

"This violent incident and riots seem to be pre-planned," Fadnavis said, emphasizing that no one has the right to take law and order into their own hands.

He linked the public anger over Aurangzeb to the recently released movie ‘Chhava’, which portrays the valour of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, stating:
"The Chhava movie has ignited people’s anger against Aurangzeb, but everyone must ensure that Maharashtra remains peaceful."

Fadnavis also issued a strong warning against attacks on law enforcement officers, stating that the government will not tolerate any violence against the police.

"Attacks on police will not be tolerated, strict action will be taken," he said.

He further revealed that the protests by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal in Nagpur led to the circulation of false rumors regarding the burning of religious texts, which incited violence in the city.

"In Nagpur, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal held protests. Rumours were spread that things containing religious content were burnt. It looks like a well-planned attack. No one has permission to take law and order into their hands," Fadnavis added.
