Amid rising global tensions following escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, senior Maharashtra Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, launched a scathing attack on the central government over its “unclear and passive” foreign policy stance.

Speaking with news agency, Wadettiwar questioned the government's silence in the face of what he termed a potential trigger for World War III. “What is your foreign policy? Make it clear before the people. The world is witnessing a major crisis, and we must know where India stands,” he said, echoing concerns earlier raised by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.

Taking a sharp dig at the Modi-led government, Wadettiwar added, “When Israel attacks Iran, we should clearly state who we support. Are we with Israel or with Iran? But this government says nothing. It’s like a scene from Sholay – ‘aadhe idhar jao, aadhe udhar jao, baaki mere peechhe aao’ – and when you turn around, no one is behind you. That’s the kind of confused leadership we’re seeing.”
