A fresh political storm has erupted after Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp and aggressive attack on Congress leader Pawan Khera, escalating tensions between the BJP and Congress ahead of key elections.

Over the past 24 hours, Sarma made strong remarks against Khera, openly warning of action and using fiery language that has intensified the political confrontation. Speaking to reporters, he said he would take legal steps soon and added, “I will take the strongest action… just wait for some days.”

He further alleged that Khera avoided questioning by moving out of reach as Assam Police attempted to contact him in connection with an ongoing passport-related issue. Sarma claimed, “Police went to his residence in Delhi, but he has run away. I have come to know through media reports that he is now in Hyderabad. The law will take its own course.”

The Assam Chief Minister also dismissed allegations made by Congress leaders linking his family to properties abroad. He described the claims as part of a “fake AI campaign” and said the documents being circulated were misused. According to him, the properties mentioned belong to other individuals and have no connection with his family.

The war of words has added heat to an already charged political atmosphere, with elections approaching in Assam. Sarma expressed confidence in his party’s performance, indicating that the BJP is aiming for a strong majority in the state.

The latest developments highlight the deepening rivalry between the two parties, with both sides engaging in sharp attacks as the political battle intensifies in the run-up to the polls.
