An IndiGo flight travelling from Visakhapatnam to New Delhi triggered a major alert after a technical issue was detected shortly before landing, forcing authorities to declare an emergency at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The incident took place on Saturday morning when flight 6E 579 experienced a suspected engine-related problem while approaching Delhi. As soon as the issue was identified, the pilots followed safety protocols and immediately requested priority landing from air traffic control.

A full emergency was declared at the airport around 10:53 AM, with fire tenders and rescue teams rushed to the runway as a precaution. Emergency crews remained on standby as the aircraft approached, ensuring all safety measures were in place.

Despite the tense situation, the aircraft landed safely without any incident. Officials confirmed that all passengers and crew members onboard were unharmed, and no damage was reported.

In a statement, IndiGo clarified that the issue was identified shortly before landing and that all standard operating procedures were followed. The airline said that relevant authorities were informed immediately and that the aircraft has been taken for detailed inspection and maintenance checks.
